Wärme und Licht für die Ukraine: Grabenkerzen MADE IN SANKT AUGUSTIN

Trench candles (also known as tin-can lights) are simple but effective sources of heat. Made from empty food cans, tightly rolled corrugated cardboard, and recycled candle wax, they burn reliably for several hours even in strong winds and deep sub-zero temperatures.
They provide vital warmth, make it possible to heat meals or tea/coffee, and offer an essential source of light in places where, for example, the power supply has been destroyed by attacks.

Thanks to the wonderful support of our community and the many donations of wax and cans, our association was able to produce around 2,500 of these trench candles last year. That corresponds to an impressive total output of about 8,000 individual candles! For the current year, we have set ourselves even higher goals and hope, with your help, to exceed this mark once again.

We take the finished trench candles directly to eastern Ukraine, where they are distributed both to defenders at the front and to civilian facilities. Given the renewed attacks on heating infrastructure expected in the coming winter, they are very much appreciated there as an addition to emergency reserves.

Every single candle not only provides light and warmth in dark days, but also shows the people of Ukraine that we have not forgotten them.

We are always looking for wax scraps and old candles, as well as empty, clean tin cans. You’re welcome to drop them off at our donation drop-off point on Fridays
Many thanks for your help.
