Convoy 51 is slowly taking shape: Preparations for our next aid transport are in full swing

Since the beginning of the war, our organization has regularly delivered aid supplies directly to Ukraine. Our 51st convoy is now scheduled for early October. As always, a great deal of organization and logistics lies behind the preparations.

Over the past days and weeks, diligent sorting, packing, and loading have already been underway. Most of the aid supplies have already been safely stowed on pallets and in the truck.

We will give you a detailed look at the cargo and the specific aid supplies here on the website once all parts of the convoy have set off in mid-October.

Mobility and rescue on the ground: Car transporters and emergency vehicle

In addition to the truck, the convoy consists of several other important transports:

• Vehicle transporter with 7 cars: A car transporter will already be loaded this weekend. The seven vehicles are intended for use on the ground and will be unloaded in Dmytrivka and handed over to our partners. We'll share initial impressions of the loading soon on our social media channels (Facebook & Instagram) and later, of course, here on the blog as well.

• Special and rescue vehicles: It is also planned to transfer a fire truck, an ambulance, and a patient transport vehicle directly to Ukraine. Vehicles like these continue to be, and increasingly are, targets of Russian attacks. Fire station Sankt Augustin I, which we substantially support, also suffered personnel and material losses during the attack on the last weekend of August, as they were on site to help.

• A 9-ton truck is bringing a number of open and closed trailers to Ukraine. Among other things, they will be needed there to help stabilize the logistics of our aid supplies as well. The truck will stay in Dmytriwka.

  
  

Safety first: Adjusted procedure on the ground

Unfortunately, the current security situation in Ukraine remains very tense. The safety of our team and of our partners on the ground always takes top priority.

To ensure safety and avoid unnecessary risks, the schedule for Convoy 51 has also been adjusted: the program on the ground will be somewhat streamlined and "scaled back" this time. Priority is given to the quick handover of the vehicles and the efficient unloading of the supplies.
