There is a new, colorful eye-catcher on the streets of Sankt Augustin. As part of the project week "Wertes Europa – Europas Werte" (Values of Europe – Europe’s Values) at the Albert Einstein Gymnasium (AEG), a very special work of art was created through a collaboration between students, graffiti artist Markus Salgert, and our association Sankt Augustin and friends hilft e. V.

A Sign for Europe and Local Support
A total of 19 students from grades 9 to 12 swapped their classrooms for spray cans. Under the expert guidance of Markus Salgert, they didn’t just redesign the school’s entrance area; they transformed our 7-ton MAN truck into a mobile masterpiece.
While our large-scale relief shipments continue to deliver aid to Ukraine, this specific truck performs vital work right here at home:
Assisting the homeless
Supporting local animal shelters
Acting as a local feeder for donations
Where Art Meets a Message: Inspired by Michel Majerus
The vehicle's design is much more than just bright colors. Inspired by color-field painting and the non-objective art of artist Michel Majerus, the truck now serves as a mobile art exhibition.
Alongside our association logo, the body of the truck is adorned with peace symbols, Ukrainian motifs, and depictions of animals. The abstract style provides a modern, aesthetic framework that makes art tangible as a "beacon of light" in complicated times.
"During this intensive week, the students were encouraged to dive deep into a subject. The result now enriches the entire cityscape."

We at the association, the dedicated young students, and artist Markus Salgert are incredibly proud of the final result. Our hope? That this truck will one day become a museum piece—because its help will no longer be needed in a more peaceful world. Until then, however, it remains a powerful symbol of solidarity and creativity.
Keep your eyes peeled: With its vibrant colors, our truck is now impossible to miss in traffic. We’d love a wave the next time you see us out and about!
