Grave candles for Ukraine – We need your help!

This summer, with the help of many hardworking hands, we made over 180 grave candles in Sankt Augustin. They provide warmth and light in Ukraine – for many hours, whatever the weather.

But now we're at a standstill: we're running out of candle remnants and empty tin cans. Without these materials, we can't continue, and winter is just around the corner.

This is how grave candles are made

In the past, grave candles were made from logs. Today, we use tin cans, cardboard, and candle remnants:

• Cardboard strips are rolled up and placed in the can as a wick.

• The tin is filled with melted wax from candle remnants.

• After hardening, robust, long-burning candles are created.

Simple but effective – and vital for cooking and warming on cold winter nights.
